Clive has had a diverse and fulfilling career, starting as a teacher and moving swiftly to conservation education and training. Being ambitious, he has always gravitated towards leadership positions, and is drawn to developing and initiating new projects and initiatives – he was headhunted by WWF-SA to lead the start-up team for the Southern African Wildlife College in 1996; head-hunted to lead the Conservation and Guiding Chamber in the newly established Tourism Education and Training Authority (THETA) in 2000; and secured the funding and managed to successful conclusion, a R129 million national Conservation training project (2002 – 2005).
He left formal employment to start his own consulting company in 2005, being privileged to implement conservation development projects throughout Africa, including Malawi, Uganda, DRC, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda and South Africa.
In 2017, ESA was formed, giving voice to Clive’s sincere belief that if people are not put at the centre of conservation solutions, there is little chance of permanently solving the challenges faced.
On the side, he is a passionate mountain biker, fly fisherman and ex-ultra-distance runner, and generally enjoys being outdoors.
